Seascape 1
Salty sea spray on a blustery day,
Moving cloud patterns and far off birds,
Sand glistening with each rolling wave,
The sea like a giant breath,
Breathing in and out.
The freshness of the air entering town lungs,
And memories rolling back and forth,
As the sea breathes.
Loneliness and alone all at once,
Far off specks in the distance,
Being alone but in company also.
The anticipation of the next breath,
Wondering if it will be more fantastic than the last,
Time ticking silently and shells,
Like seconds and minutes on the shore,
Appearing and reappearing in every breath.
Salty strands of sea weed snaking,
And sea froth like apple snow,
Catching far off thoughts as I watch the sea inhale.
Filling my lungs with the newness of every second,
Sharp and stinging on skin now,
I am reluctant to leave the company of this living breathing
breath.

Seascape
2
Long shadow time,
Eyes sore with the glaring shining light,
Diamonds on movement,
Movement next to light,
Light refracting.
Triangular whites in the far off,
Leaning back against cushioned air.
Air slowly breathing,
Making its way toward dusk.
Sounds floating away,
The glaring diminishing,
The diamonds disappearing,
The movement still moving,
And the light now more opalescent.
Draining brightness from tired eyes,
Watching it fade,
The movement still moves,
The light will return,
The long shadows now gone,
To return,
To return,
But not today.
